Well, I was bored enough to just go ahead and draw out the letters.

Here they are.

There is no upper/lower case distinction, they’re all the same. Also there are no accent markers over vowels for the french words, making it sometimes hard to use websites to translate them.

Also there is one instance in ep. 6 where on the side of Sera’s truck the letters are written backwards and the word is neither english nor french, but japanese: takuhaibin

Hey. I don’t hear comments about this so maybe no one really noticed, but the written language in Basquash is really just a messed up font of the english alphabet. I decided to decipher it all and luckily episode 06 here shows every letter and number at least twice so I’ve got it all figured out.

I didn’t know how else to contact you guys so I decided to just make a comment. I was going to reproduce the letters all neat and clean over the weekend when I had some free time, but if Umai wanted a list of all the letters for use in translation I could draw them out by hand (actually mouse) and put them in an image file for you guys and send it to you.

It’s not something super important but I noticed a lot of things that it would be nice to be able to read as I was watching a few of the episodes. I also noticed that while a lot of the writing is in english, many “official” papers are written in french, like the newspaper and the delivery contract in episode 06.

Anyway, let me know. It’s really fun to read everything once you know what you’re looking at.

Tokkan that was (supposed to be) an ironic remark.

I agree about the OTT fanservice. Case in point from this episode: James Lone grabbing Gracia’s breasts and waxing lyrical about his love for divinely round balls, especially “chaste Bianca and determined Kate”. Also note his fondness of soap bubbles.

Anyway 06 was another well-written episode.
