Random information…

Hi guys.

Since I am no longer actively fansubbing or anything, Nanne has taken over the group. Now, there may or may not be updates on episode progress; however, we will actively fansub every episode of Major. It solely depends on whether he wants to post an update or not; however, speed and quality WILL remain the same.

Giant Killing has been dropped

Our great translator for Giant Killing has decided to retire from fansubbing, so we’ll be dropping the show. I’d like to thank everyone who worked on the show and all the people who watched our releases. It was fun while it lasted.

umai is RECRUITING

You heard it!

You wanna get involved in the fansub scene?! Well, we’re recruiting.

If you can provide us with a 100Mbit US XDCC Bot, please contact us.

Thanks.

Site related updates…

hi guys,

the site has been updated as you can visually see.
what has also came with it is: new & updated projects page, side bar grabs data directly from projects page. what does this mean? sidebar will also have giant killing now.

THE END IS NEAR

Hi guys.

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-06-22/takuya-mitsuda-major-baseball-manga-nears-its-end

Edit:
Hi again,

I don’t know where you guys are getting your facts from but let me say a few things:

  • The manga is NOT behind the anime, ever.
  • Season 6 is NOT a filler
  • The manga will end before the anime
  • The anime will NOT have a different ending
  • If the manga does NOT end when Season 6 ends, we will have to wait a while until S7 starts unless the author confirms that he will end the manga before they plan on airing S7 (and 25-26 weeks).

On the Future of Umai Fansubs

So obviously there has been some major drama going on around here lately. The good news is that we’re finished Basquash! and everyone in Umai has calmed down a bit.

We considered doing Book of Bantorra this fall season if we got a TLC, but sadly no one volunteered (as far as I know). I personally am happy about that, because Book of Bantorra is a bad show, like 99% of the fall shows I’ve seen so far.

Winter season looks, so far, to be full of fail as well. While we may find a 12-ish-episode show in winter to sub, it’s kind of unlikely. Lots of the staff are taking reduced roles in fansubbing (note that we are all in several groups, not just Umai) due to school, work, etc, and this raises our standards for what we want to volunteer what little spare time we have for. That means that we’re not going to pick up a shitty series just ’cause it’s the “best of the worst” or something like that. If a good series that’s not being subbed by anyone good comes along, we’ll pick it up if we have the staff. That might mean waiting until winter season or spring season.

See where I said “if we have the staff”? That’s important. The truth is that we could pick up a fall show if we wanted to. We just don’t feel that there’s anything worth our time (as I explained above). If a new translator came along, or a new editor or a new timer, etc, we could probably put together a team of people to do a fall show (though soon it would probably be too late, so maybe this is more for the winter season). Quality could be maintained by the existing translator doing TLC (less time-intensive than translating), existing editors and QCers making sure editing and other aspects are up to Umai standards, etc. So if you’re interested in any position, head over to #umai @ irc.rizon.net and message me (Calan) and we’ll see if we can put together a team. Otherwise, the Umai “veterans” will just wait until we find a good show to do – whenever that may be.

From all the staff, we hope you’ve enjoyed Basquash! for the past 26 (probably more than that) weeks and we look forward to finding another show to fansub.

Recruiting for Book of Bantorra

Hello guys,

We’re recruiting ONE Translation Checker for Book of Bantorra. If we do not get a TLC, we probably won’t sub anything this (fall) season.

If you are interested, you MUST know Japanese (native preferred), and are able to make out spoken words. The TV station airs without captions.

Here’s us being bitches…

So, there are some niggers at a fansub group called “Koharubi” and they apparently dislike us, so well, this was their comment:

baw no spacing makes this layout fucking break in certain browser but yes i know you can just delete this comments but i must say we at #koharubi still think you are all niggers so baw

Comment posted under the nick “bloo” (different IP from the first bloo in this case)

Since I’m not really in the mood right now, so perhaps, I can give you guys the IP address and await to see the world explode?

Anywho, the IP address used this time was 216.75.191.8

Basquash! 20

Spanky Dumbface

It’s out. There was no status post cuz Calan is a lazy bitch. Feel free to come onto irc and pm him and say that he is a faggot. Also, there will be no new ep this week according to the TBS broadcast we used. Dunno if it’s the same with MBS which airs a day earlier but it’s probably the case. Enjoy
